H. G. Dr. Mathews Mar Severios, the visitor bishop of the St. Mary's convent laid the foundation stone for the building of Asha Bhavan on 31st October 1999 in the land possessed by the convent. In the general meeting which followed the ceremony many well wishers donated their first contribution to the project. With the financial help and moral support of many friends of Asha Bhavan the first floor was consecrated by 27thMay 2001 by the then Catholicos Desigante H. B. Thomas Mar Thimotheos and gave admission to 12 inmates in the first session. The second storey of Asha Bhavan was completed and was consecrated by H. H. Baselios Marthoma Mathews II of the blessed memory on 26th January 2003 and the number of the inmates was increased to 35.
At present Asha Bhavan has 45 inmates under the dedicated services of three sisters of the convent and other 8 co-workers including two specially trained teachers. Members of the spiritual organizations from the Parishes in the Dioceses of Niranam, Chengannur and Thumpamon often visit this institution with their offerings of money as well as different home-made food items and agricultural products. Many well wishers of Asha Bhavan celebrate their special occasions like wedding anniversary, baptism of their children, Memorial Day of their departed dear ones, marriage of their sons and daughters in Asha Bhavan together with its inmates. Almost all the social and cultural organizations and clubs like Lions Club, Rotary Club, Y.M.C.A, and Jaycees Club visit.
Asha Bhavan regularly on special occasions of their celebrations and spend time with the inmates. Students from various educational institutions nearby spend their holidays with the inmates performing various cultural activities. The inmates participate regularly all the programmes arranged by the District social welfare department as well as the association of the schools .They regularly participate in the sports meet in the district level and bag numerable prizes. St. Mary's hospital, Eraviperoor, Kottakkad Medicare, Thiruvalla Pharmaceutical distributors, Dr. Saji and Dr. Preethi, Muringasseril are involving in the medial welfare of the inmates. The yearly annual tour programme brings to the inmates a new vigor. It is worth mentioning here that a well wisher Mr. M.C Jose Manalel has donated to Asha Bhavan a piece of land in which by his own expense a shrine of Cross (Kurisinthotty) in the name of St. Gregorios was constructed nearby the public road. This was consecrated by H. G. Dr. Mathews Mar Severios and dedicated to public worship on 9th July 2007.
This is a new project of the Mother Hannah Charitable Society intended to give free boarding and lodging to the deserved girls for better education. The foundation stone of the girl's home was laid by H.G.Dr.Mathews Mar Severios, Visitor Bishop of the convent, on 26th January 2006 in land owned by the convent only 25 meters far from the convent. The construction of the two storied building has been completed. The 8 inmates, at present residing in Ashabhavan, will start their living in the newly constructed home in the coming academic year after proper furnishing the home can accommodate 50 girls. The Sisters of the convent will take care of their facilities of living and study in different schools in the locality.
